In France, “Mai 68” was occurred in May, 1968. It was not only a link in a chain of global protest demonstrations in 1960s, but was the epichorial event of social regime in France. This demonstration could be divided into two parts: one was camps commotions and another one was labors disturbances. No matter students or labors who were all strove for better job opportunities and more equitable caste. Therefore, we could consider Mai 68 as the youth expressed their disaffection to the government. The warlike colonialism, the Ve republic of Charles de Gaulle, and the permanently closed tertiary education encouraged the youths' disaffection. The indignant atmosphere and the widespread new left encouraged the youth to challenge and reflect their complaints to the authorities, from the community even to the country again and again. In the early of 1968, there were piecemeal students' and labors' strikes. Afterwards, the students at the Sorbonne University called a strike in May then the labor involved, and spreaded to everywhere in France in the end. Nevertheless, the government was liked a loser no matter what they did. Finally, the President Charles de Gaulle announced that the parliament was re-elected as the peaceful method to conclude this storm. This dissertation analyzed the effect upon Mai 68 of the Ve Republic and discussed the causality and anfractuosities of Mai 68. This storm heavily inflicted losses on economy in France and caused the Left lose their rallying point, therefore, the Right even more united. In the whole, the most precious things this storm accounted were the current for the essence of criticism, innovation of college education, eradicating the division of the traditional system between discipline and faculty enhanced the relationship between universities and the outsides, and towarded to the universities' decentralization. Therefore, existentialism, the “new novel” and feminism movement had been developed vigorously. It also caused France to disengage from the former and cathedral system in various aspects, and then launched a brand-new page.
