摘要: 近年來根據許多研究及調查結果皆顯示,網路工具的便利性與使用者逐漸改變的資訊資源使用習慣,導致圖書館目錄的使用率正在下降中。面對這樣的改變,圖書館的目錄若要維持其功能與角色所應具備的基本條件是要能提供更高品質的書目紀錄。尤其對大學圖書館而言,若要在全球化的時代及變動快速的高等教育環境中扮演好知識入口的角色,更需重視書目紀錄品質並對品質進行把關,以提升使用者利用圖書館目錄的信心與信任感。 本研究之目的是以FRBR使用者工作為評量基礎,探討國內六所大學圖書館書目紀錄之品質,首先探討六所大學圖書館書目紀錄品質現況,包括六所大學圖書館書目品質符合國家圖書館簡略書目標準之情況及其滿足FRBR使用者工作的程度;繼而分析六所大學圖書館書目紀錄的完整性及正確性。研究方法為內容分析法,主要採用程式比對並輔以人工審核方式。 根據研究結果顯示:(1)六所大學圖書館書目紀錄未能完全符合基本的品質要求;(2)目前六所大學圖書館書目紀錄品質滿足FRBR使用者工作之程度偏低,顯見紀錄品質有待提升;(3)國家書目品質政策有助於各合作館提升書目品質;(4)六所大學圖書館書目紀錄完整性比例偏低;(5)六所大學圖書館書目紀錄主題及聚合元素不完整性高於描述元素;(6)六所大學圖書館書目著錄的欄位未能符合FRBR使用者工作的要求;(7)六所大學圖書館書目紀錄並未注意書目加值的重要性;(8)六所大學圖書館書目紀錄部分紀錄內容仍有錯誤。 依據研究結果本研究提出下列建議:(1)大學圖書館應遵循編目標準及書目資料處理原則,重視並加強書目品質控制;(2)大學圖書館若要滿足FRBR使用者工作的需求,應以建立完整級書目為目標;(3)大學圖書館應重視主題編目之重要性;(4)大學圖書館應重視書目加值之重要性;(5)大學圖書館應注意與掌握編目作業的最新趨勢與發展;(6)大學圖書館應將建立書目品質視為組織文化的一部分;(7)編目人員應重視書目品質並能與時俱進持續加強編目的專業知能;(8)中華民國圖書館學會應積極著手修訂中文編目規則並會同國家圖書館推廣FRBR概念模式,以增進編目單位與編目人員對FRBR模式的瞭解與應用;(9)國家圖書館應掌握書目控制新趨勢並儘快提供具體的行動方案。
Many research and studies in the recent years indicated that the convenience brought by internet-based tools is gradually changing the users' habits in using information resources. This in turns is causing a decrease in library catalog use. Facing such challenges, libraries'' catalog will have to be able to provide a bibliographic record of better quality to maintain their function and play out their role. Especially when it comes to university libraries, as they play the major role as a portal in this globalized and fast changing higher education environment, they should place more emphasis on bibliographic quality and set stricter rules in quality control to strengthen users' confidence and faith. This study aims at evaluating the bibliographic record's quality of six Taiwanese university libraries with FRBR user tasks as its foundation. First, the current situation of the six university libraries are discussed which includes the extent to which these records comply with the National Library Brief Catalog Standards and satisfy FRBR user tasks. Then, the completeness and accuracy of the records are analyzed. Content analysis serves as the method of research with program mapping as the main approach assisted by manual inspection. Findings indicate that:(1)none of the six university library bibliographic records could fully meet the basic quality requirements,(2)currently, these records can only fulfill low level of FRBR user tasks. It is evident that the quality needs improvement, (3)national catalogue quality policies can be helpful in elevating the quality of bibliographic records of cooperating libraries(4)the completeness of bibliographic records is low,(5)the incompleteness of the subject and collocation factors in bibliographic records is higher than that of descriptive factors, (6)the number of the fields in bibliographic records of the six university libraries did not meet the requirements of FRBR user tasks, (7) the importance of enhanced bibliographic record was not emphasized in the six university libraries' bibliographic records(8) mistakes were found in the contents of bibliographic records. Based on the above findings, the following suggestions are proposed:(1)academic libraries should comply with catalogue standards and bibliographic records handling principles, more emphasis should be placed on quality control, (2)to satisfy the needs of FRBR user tasks, academic libraries need to aim at establishing complete level of bibliographic records,(3)academic libraries should place more emphasis on the importance of subject cataloging, (4)academic libraries should acknowledge the importance of bibliographic records enhancement, (5) academic libraries should pay attention and obtain information of the latest trends and developments in cataloging operations, (6)establishing the quality of the bibliographic records should be seen as part of an organizational culture in academic libraries,(7)catalogers should pay attention to the quality of records and continuously pursue professional knowledge and skills, (8)Library Association of the Republic of China should edit a set of cataloguing rules while promoting FRBR model along with the National Central Library. This should be beneficial in enhancing institutions and personnel's understanding and application of the FRBR model, (9)National Central Library should be aware of the new trends in bibliographic record control and promptly propose a concrete action plan.
