Information hiding is one of the most important techniques of communication protection by hiding secret data into cover media. Many information hiding schemes have been proposed. Reversible data hiding is an important technique of information hiding. In this thesis, we propose a reversible two-dimensional histogram based scheme by using error-pair-mapping (EPM). Moreover, a parameter named level has been introduced. The larger the level value is, the higher the capacity will be. That is, the parameter enhances the embedding performance and enables the capacity of cover image to be adjustable. In our proposed scheme, firstly, neighborhood pixels of each pixel-pair are considered as the context, and then prediction pixel values and error-pairs are computed by prediction pixel values. Since error-pair-mapping is an injective mapping, the embedding procedure can be reversed and secret data can be extracted. Compare with conventional one-dimensional difference-histogram and one-dimensional prediction-error-histogram based schemes, the image redundancy can be better exploited and embedding performance can be improved.
