This study aims to extend Rogers' model with the focus on assessing social effect of supply chain member in adopting RFID. Institution isomorphic theory is applied to describe the social influence of downstream suppliers on their relational investment for adoption intention of the inter-organizational system (IOS). Empirical data from 130 major Taiwanese suppliers were collected for examinations. Partial least square was established to calibrate the effects of the identified constructs using VisualPLS version1.04b1. Results conclude that the social effect through relational investment appears to be a dominating factor for the suppliers to adopt RFID. It also presents an indirect effect on organizational readiness that affects adoption. Conversely, conventional innovation attributes are less effective to account for the suppliers' adoption behavior. The result places a great emphasis on social influence of supply chain member on an IOS decision for integrated benefits.
