Sow production efficiency is the result of many distinct but interacting factors including environment, nutrition, genetics, and economics that act during both the growth period and the reproductive life of the pig. It is very important to understand the factors affecting the performance of sow to get more profit. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to build an online simulation model for sow reproduction at different feeding and management environment. This system was designed by adopting Microsoft Windows Server 2003 as operation system and was written with ASP.NET 2.0 (Active Server Pages.NET) coordinated with Microsoft Access 2007 Database. This system was installed on the Server of the Department of Animal Science, National Chung Hsing University. The main functions include five sections in terms of user data, simulation, operation instruction, reports, and contact programmer. First step, user must register online before login this system. Subsequently, user must input the sow data, feed details, feeding regimes, house environment, and the cost of the project. The system was then predict the sow's voluntary feed intake, backfat thickness changes, daily weight gain, and energy needs at each day of different reproductive cycle. At the same time, system also predicted fetus growth at gestation, milk yield and piglet growth at lactation. A financial statement was also produced to assess the favorable work of the feeding strategies. Some useful information from this system could act as decision support system for farmers to manage their sows.
