The photoperiodic response of spray chrysanthemum ‘Euro Sunny' , ‘Ford', ‘Monalisa' ,‘Monalisa Pink' or ‘Plano Dark' were investingated. The effect of cuttings on cut flowers quality were also investigated.
The limit light intensity of four hours night break for inhibiting flowering of ‘Euro Sunny' , ‘Ford', ‘Monalisa' ,‘Monalisa Pink' or ‘Plano Dark' was 37, 37, 15, 15 or 20 lux in autumn. Furthermore when three cultivars grown in spring the limit light intensity was 15 lux.
The fresh weight of import cutting from the Netherlands was between 0.7 to 1.3 gram. The fresh weight of our cutting was between 1.0 to 3.0 gram in the experiments. The relationship between number of roots, fresh weight of roots, increasing fresh weight of shoots and fresh weight of cutting was positive linear in import cuttings of ‘Euro Sunny', ‘Monalisa'and ‘Plano Dark'. When the fresh weight of cutting of the former cultivars below 2.25 gram, the number of roots and fresh weight of roots increased as well as cutting's weight increased. When‘Euro Sunny', ‘Monalisa' and ‘Plano Dark' cuttings weight over 2.25 gram the fresh weight of shoot decreased. The relationship between increasing fresh weight and fresh cutting weight below 2.25 gram were positive linear in our cuttings of ‘Euro Sunny' and ‘Plano Dark' .
The promotion of root formation only observed in‘Ford'after cuttings dipped in 5 mgL-1 paclobutrazol solution for 5 ~ 30 minutes. Import and our cuttings of ‘Euro Sunny' , ‘Ford', ‘Monalisa' ,‘Monalisa Pink' and ‘Plano Dark' were used for cut flower production .To compare the height of cut flowers of import cuttings with our cuttings. The former was higher at the same level of cutting weight. The nodes number of cut flowers increased when fresh weight of cutting increased from 1.0 gram to 3.0 gram. The fresh weight of cut flowers (90cm) of ‘Euro Sunny' ,‘Monalisa ' and ‘Plano Dark' produced was heaviest than that produced from our cuttings. The fresh weight of cut flowers (90cm), length of first axillary stalk and diameter of flowers of ‘Euro Sunny' , ‘Ford', ‘Monalisa' and ‘Plano Dark' were increased when the weight of cuttings were increased from 1.0 to 3.0 gram.
Used paclobutrazol 5 mgL-1 to spray in the leaf in stock plants growth and took the cuttings. The fresh weight of cuttings from the stock sprayed 5 mgL-1 paclobutrazol was heavier than import cuttings and our cuttings of ‘Euro Sunny' , ‘Monalisa' and ‘Plano Dark' without spraying paclobutrazol. The fresh weight of cut flowers from the stock plants of ‘Euro Sunny' and ‘Monalisa' sprayed paclobutrazol was heavier than that from import cuttings but than that from the cuttings 2.0~2.99 gram of without spraying paclobutrazol. The length of first stalk of ‘Euro Sunny'and ‘Plano Dark'was shorted when cuttings from the stock plants sprayed 5 mgL-1 paclobutrazol.
