The influence of training on growth and yield of eggplant
茄子株冠層的透光率，以V型整枝處理的株冠層較薄，葉層排列緊密，對光截取能力較佳。單葉的光合成速率，在5月27日生育初期以水平整枝處理16.48μmol/m2/s，而 V型整枝處理較高，達17.48μmol/m2/s，但在8月27日生育中期以水平整枝處理18.37μmol/m2/s較佳，V型整枝處理僅為15.90μmol/m2/s。不同整枝處理間均以上午9-11點為一日中光合成速率的最高峰。在主幹與主枝的橫截面積增加量亦以V型整枝處理表現較水平整枝處理佳。在光能利用效率，整個生育期間以V型整枝處理者2.95g/ MJ，顯著較水平整枝處理之2.40 g/ MJ為高。在生育中期葉面積指數以V型整枝處理者為3.81，較水平整枝處理者 2.69 達極顯著的提高；至生育末期仍以V型整枝處理表現較佳。在乾物質的分配，不同整枝處理均以果實佔的比例最大，其次依序為莖、葉、根及花。產量與品質方面，顯示V型整枝處理的產量可提高7.5 ton / ha，達8.1﹪；茄果品質亦可提昇特級果所佔的比例達55.4﹪。
在V型整枝栽培密度試驗，結果顯示茄子產量、葉面積指數、光能利用效率、經濟產量及單位面積乾物量隨著栽培密度的增加而增加，在產量方面以栽培密度1.11 plant/m2表現最好，可達120.5 ton / ha。但茄果品質則隨著栽培密度的增加而有下降的情形，其特級果佔總產量的比例由64.5﹪下降至61.1﹪。在單果性狀方面，栽培密度對果長、果徑及單果重等性狀並無顯著性差異。建議V型整枝栽培之密度以0.67-0.84 plant/m2為最佳。
Comparing light transmission of eggplant canopy showed the V-type training had thinner leaf layer and higher light interception than H-type training. The net photosynthesis rate of each leaf in H-type training detected at the early growth stage on May 27, was 16.48μmol/m2/s which is lower than the V-type of 17.48μmol/m2/s. At the mid growth stage on August 27, the net photosynthesis rate of H-type was 18.37μmol/m2/s and higher than V-type of 15.90μmol/m2/s. The highest level of photosynthesis rate appeared at 9-11 AM. in both training treatment. The V-type training had greater trunk and shoot cross section area than H-type training as well as in radiation use efficiency the V-type and H-type training were 2.95g/MJ and 2.40 g/MJ, respectively. At the mid growth stage, the leaf area index of V-type training was 3.81 which higher than the H-type training of 2.69 and combined to late growth stage. The dry mass distribution in both training type were the highest in fruit and than follow up in stem, leaf, root and flower. The V-type training product 7.5 ton/ha in yield more than H-type with 55.4﹪in first grade fruit.
Plant density trial of V-type training indicated the yield, leaf area index, radiation use efficiency, economic yield and unit dry mass were increased as increased in plant density. Plant density of 1.11 plant/m2 obtained 120.5 ton/ha in yield, but 1st grade fruit quality decreased from 64.5﹪to 61.1﹪.There is no significant effect on fruit length, diameter and weight of single fruit under different density trial. However, the best plant density of V-type training of 0.67-0.84 plant/m2 is recommended.
