In the woodland of the Important Wildlife Habitat of Chi-Gu, 306 morph species belonging to 16 orders and 112 families were found. Henosepilachna vigintioctopunctata (F.) was the predominant species in the woodland and because of its abundance and obvious importance as a major consumer in the woodland ecological system, this insect species was selected to be the subject of a more intense life table study. The raw life history data of H. vigintioctopunctata were analyzed based on the age-stage, two-sex life table theory. The intrinsic rate of increase (r) of H. vigintioctopunctata was 0.1312 d-1. The finite rate of increase ( ) was 1.1402 d-1, and the net reproductive rate (R0) was 603.5 offspring. The mean generation time (T) was 48.8 d, the gross reproduction rate (GRR) was 864.5 offspring, and the net consumption rate (C0) was 77.8 cm2/individual. Life tables are as important as species inventories, and when used in conjunction with them, are capable of showing the relationships among species and are essential in constructing food chain models for ecosystem management.
本研究調查七股野生動物重要棲息地之林地昆蟲相，共發現306形態種，分屬於16個目112個科。在林地發現茄二十八星瓢蟲Henosepilachna vigintioctopunctata (F.)為主要的瓢蟲種類，因其在龍葵Solanum americanum Miller上發生密度極高，故進一步研究其生命表。茄二十八星瓢蟲之原始生活史資料以兩性生命表理論分析，其內在增值率(r)為0.1312 d-1、終極增長率( )為1.1402 d-1、淨增殖率(R0)為603.5個子代、平均世代時間(T)為48.8天、粗增殖率(GRR)為864.5個子代。淨取食率(C0)為77.8平方公分的葉面積。生命表與物種調查一樣重要，當兩者結合就能顯示物種間的關係，且為生態系管理中食物鏈建構之必要條件。
