Steinernema abbasi為台灣第一次發現並有記錄之Steinernematidae中之一種蟲生線蟲,其生活史和目前已知的Steinernema spp. 相類似,皆擁有卵、四個幼蟲期及成蟲期。取10、50及100 IJs/larva的濃度對斜紋夜蛾(Spodoptera litura)四、五及六齡幼蟲的死亡率最低為73.3%(10 IJs/6th larva),以濃度50 IJs/larva處理時,對寄主之死亡率可達100%。半數致死時間(LT50)最短為24.4 hr (100 IJs/4th larva),最長為39.8 hr (10 IJs/6th larva ) 。當儲存於15、20、25及30℃下一個月其存活率,除30℃略為下降至94.8%外,其餘皆可維持100%。在儲存第25天時,取出以10 IJs/larva的濃度感染S. litura五齡幼蟲時,以15及20℃儲存組對寄主的死亡率可達95%以上,LT50分別為26.2及23.1 hr。而在15、20、25、30及35℃下感染斜紋夜蛾五齡幼蟲時,經48小時後,對寄主最高的死亡率可達99.2%(30及35℃),15℃組經7日死亡率為0 ; LT50則以30℃組最短為19.5 hr。比較儲存於室溫下不同時間後,IJs存活率,發現未經儲存的IJs對斜紋夜蛾五齡幼蟲的死亡率最佳,可達93% (LT50為29.1 hr),儲存30天後寄主死亡率隨儲存時間的延長至第90天對幼蟲死亡率降為36.7%。以pH 2~12溶液檢定對IJs之影響時,發現在pH 2中經12小時後其存活率降至44%,到第14天時存活率只剩1.8%。而在pH 7-12中持續到第14天時存活率仍為100%。對化學藥劑忍受性測試,選取田間常用之殺蟲劑、殺草劑、殺菌劑、殺?劑及殺線蟲劑等14種化學藥劑,發現經處理48小時後對S. abbasi的存活率沒有影響。

The entomopathogenic nematode, Steinernema abbasi, was isolated from Hua-lien, Taiwan. It was the first specie of Steinernematidae discorverd and recorded in Taiwan. Its life cycle similar to other species of Steinernema includes egg, four larval stages and adult. Inoculation of 4th, 5thand 6th instar larvae of the common cutworm, Spodoptera litura, with 10, 50, and 100 infective juveniles (IJs) per larva caused 73.3 to 100% of larval mortality, LT50 between 24.4 hr (100 IJs/4th larva) and 39.8 hr (10 IJs/6th larva). The survival rate of S. abbasi remained 100% at 10, 20, and 25℃ but lowered to 94.8% after storage at 30℃ for 30 days. Bioassay with S. litura larvae inoculated with 10 IJs/larva showed that the nematodes stored at 15 and 20℃ for 25 days could cause 95% or higher of larval mortality. LT50 values were 26.2 and 23.1 hr, respectively. Mortality of S. litura 5th instar larvae was highest (99%) by incubating at 30 and 35℃ for 48 hr over a range from 15 to 35℃. The infective juveniles before storage were best for infection of 5th instar larvae of S. litura, causing 93% larval mortality, and an LT50 value of 29.1 hr ; however, the mortality declined to 36.7% as prolonged the storage time up to 90 days at room temperature. Incubation of IJs in a solution over a pH values ranging from 2 to 12 showed that the nematode survival was only 44% at pH 2 for 12 hr, and lowered to 1.8% after incubating for 14 days. However, the survival maintained 100% at pH 7-12. Assay on compatibility of S. abbasi with 14 chemicals including insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, acaricides, and nematocides did not show any adverse effect on its survival after incubating for 48 hr.
