標題: Development of Rapid Diagnostic Methods for Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Viruses

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) imposes a great potential threatens to the poultry industry in Taiwan, and HPAI is also a disease of zoonotic concerns. We have developed several methods for the identification of HPAI by either molecular or conventional methods. This project is proposed to develop monoclonal antibodies against H5 and H7 viruses. Once developed, these monoclonal antibodies could be used to identify H5 and H7 viruses by immuno fluorescence assay, and could also be used to identify anti-H5 and anti-H7 antibodies by Sandwich ELISA. This ELISA employs E. coli-expressed recombinant H5 and H7 proteins as antigens, and thus circumvents the danger of culture of H5 and H7 viruses. Once developed, this ELISA could be popularized, and thus simplifies and facilitates the survey of anti-H5 and H7 antibodies. This will prevent t
