This project is aiming at studying the feeding preference of biting midge larvae to various blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria) and green algae as well as developing potential larval baits. Basic ingredient of biting midge baits will include algae as food attractant; several microbial insecticides such as Bacillus thringiensis subsp. israelensis, pyriproxyfen, spinosad; boric acid, etc. Field trials on the control efficacies of different baits will also be conducted to develop effective biting midge control baits that are safe and environmentally friendly.en_US
zh_TW
