Assessment of Environmental Factors and Rice Susceptibility to Bacterial Blight
The bacterial blight disease of rice is a serious disease occurred throughout all rice-growing areas. It is caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, which is a highly variable plant pathogen that can be categorized into races according to the differential interaction between rice and the bacterium. The focus of the proposal is to use local bacterial strains of X. oryzae pv. oryzae and rice cultivars from Taiwan to test the disease incidence with different cultural practices and treatments. Results gathered from this study could be potnetially useful in reducing bacterial blight in future.
