STUDIES ON ECONOMICAL BENEFIT OF COASTAL WINDBREAK FORESTS IN TAIWAN

Abstract

本研究調查分析防風林地區之農業經營，計算防風林之經濟效益，比較分析防風林受惠農戶與未受惠農戶之經營成果。並撿討防風林在土地利用上之價值。 The windbreak In west sea-coast area has evolved during the past several decades by stand and single/multiple row structures. Improved crop varieties and irrigation, diminished damage, increased products and high value of land are those advantages stimulated by windbreak﹒ During the time period(1971-1980) about 4,013 hectar of sea－coast forest, (including farm windbreak）has been established successfully. After an analysis of 12 most important regions close to sea-coast forests, two tangible benefit items are acceptable: (1)The established farm windbreak is the most efficient than other windbreak structures. The net revenue of crops in those area protected by farm windbreak is amounted to NT$81,041/ha per year. (2) The anuity value of land converted from sea 一coast forests, based on the assumption of l2% discount rate with 30 years project period, is about NT$22l,545/ha.
