摘要: 
本計畫本(94年)年度之主要目標,在探討台灣產諾麗果不同製品對小鼠淋巴及肺氣管沖洗細胞免疫功能之影響,以體外實驗模式進行實驗,探討諾麗果在體外對免疫細胞及氣管細胞之影響,由細胞及其分泌介質之變化,評估諾麗果調節氣管發炎之可行性,實驗完成後,將可提供諾麗果調節體外細胞免疫功能之科學證據,評估諾麗果之免疫調節屬性(Th1或Th2),並推算出動物體內實驗之使用劑量,為動物體內實驗預做準備,且提供國人食用之參考,提升農產品之附加價值。本年度實驗完成後預期將可達成下列目標:
一.證實諾麗果不同製備樣品對動物體外實驗具有抗過敏之免疫調節功能。
二.探討出諾麗果不同製品對動物體外免疫細胞之最適作用濃度。
三.建立本土機能性水果體外抗過敏免疫調節之評估步驟。
四.由脾臟及氣管細胞分泌Th1及Th2細胞激素之變化,判斷評估諾麗果之免疫調節屬性。
五.由氣管細胞分泌趨化素eotaxin之變化,評估諾麗果是否具有氣管抗過敏功效。
六.推展保健農產品之最佳食用方法,促進國人健康。

Title: Effects of Noni fruit on immunomodulation in asthmatic inflammation: (1) Effects of fermentative and digestive products of Noni fruit on immunomodulation of lymphocytes and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cells from BALB/c mice

This project is a two-year-period project. The objective of the core project is “Effects of Noni fruit on immunomodulation in asthmatic inflammation”. An emerging fruit, Noni fruit from Morinda citrifolia Linn., cultivated in Taiwan will select to evaluate its effect on immunomodulation in asthmatic inflammation. The first year will finish “Effects of fermentative and digestive products of Noni fruit on immunomodulation of lymphocytes and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cells from BALB/c mice”. The ultimate goal of this project in this year is to evaluate effects of different products of Noni fruit on immunomodulation of lymphocytes and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cells from female BALB/c mice with an in vitro murine model. Mediators (including Th1 and Th2 cytokines, chemokines.. etc.) secreted from primary lymphocytes and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cells treated with Noni fruit products will be determined and their possibility of alleviating asthmatic inflammation will be judged. The optimal dosage being used in an in vivo murine model will also be determined in this year. As this project is finished, the expected goals will be as followed:
1. To verify the anti-allergic effect of Noni fruit on primary lymphocytes and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cells in an in vitro murine model.
2. To determine the optimal concentration of Noni fruit on immunomodulation to primary lymphocytes and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cells in vitro.
3. To establish a proper cellular model to evaluate indigenous functional fruits of anti-allergic or anti-asthmatic effects.
4. To characterize the immunomodulatory property (Th1 or Th2-prone) of Noni fruit according to the secretion profile of cytokines of lymphocytes and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cells in vitro.
5. To evaluate the anti-allergic effect of Noni fruit against airway inflammation according to the change of eotaxin from bronchoalveolar lavage fluid cells treated with different products of Noni fruit.
6. To motivate the best eating pattern of functional agricultural products and improve people health in Taiwan.
