A broadened spiral inductor with arithmetic-progression step width is proposed to improve the quality,factor (Q factor). The results show that Q factor can be greatly enhanced by tapering the spiral inductor. The enhancement of Q factor by increased step width and associated eddy-current loss reduction is also studied.
