In the present study, a dynamic model for phase transfer catalysis concerning external mass
transfer and intrinsic reaction of intermediate within droplets with internal circulation for
liquid/liquid systems was developed. Damkohler number and mass Biot number of catalyst and
intermediate were defined to compare the relative importance of external mass transfer, internal
diffusion and reaction rate. The governing equations were solved by finite difference and fourth-
order Runge-Kutta methods. It is found that the concentration of intermediate in organic phase
depends on mass transfer rate, distribution coefficient, molar ratio of reactants, intrinsic aqueous and
organic reaction rates. For the intermediate QY, when mass Biot number Bi reduces from 16 to 0.32,
the limiting step of overall reaction changes from organic reaction to a combined effect of mass
transfer and organic reaction. For the phase transfer catalyst, the effect of mass transfer rate is also
important for Bi less than 1.6 due to a higher aqueous reaction rate. The pseudo-first order behavior
of phase transfer catalyzed reaction is affected by the concentration of catalytic intermediate in the
organic phase for different operating conditions. The present study provides a detailed systematic
analysis to realize the behaviors of liquid/liquid phase transfer catalysis with internal circulation.

本研究提出液╱液相相間轉移催化反應中考慮觸媒中間體之外質傳與其在具內循
環顆粒液滴內本質反應之動態模式,並定義觸媒與中間體之Damkohler數與質量Biot數以
比較外質傳、內擴散及反應速率之相對重要性。反應系統之統御方程式則係以有限差分法及
四階Runge-Kutta法求取其數值解。結果顯示觸媒中間體在有機相之濃度受制於質傳速率、
分佈係數、反應物莫耳比、水相及有機相本質反應。對觸媒中間體QY而言,當質量Bi 數
由16降低至0.32時,總體反應之速率決定步驟由有機相反應轉變成質傳與有機相反應之複
合效應。當Bi 值較1.6為低時,由於快速的水相反應速率使得質傳效應仍然顯著,而相間
轉移催化反應之虛擬一次動力行為亦受到有機相觸媒中間體濃度的影響。本研究對具有內循
環液滴之液╱液相間轉移觸媒反應提供詳細的系統分析,以對其催化行為有更深入暸解。
