摘要: 
林木各部位的穩定碳同位素組成的差異,可提供林木生長所在的土壤、水分狀態與氣候狀態的訊息。藉由如樹輪纖維素等含碳樣本的分析,瞭解林木進行光合作用固定碳過程、呼吸作用、生化代謝作用途徑受影響的因素。進而,推廣至整個森林生態系甚至全球的尺度,有助於瞭解地球過去的氣候狀態變遷與大氣圈CO?濃度變化,且可藉以探討森林生態系在全球碳循環中扮演供源,或是積存的角色。
