The discrete system, obtained by sampling a continuous linear system for the conventional discrediting methods (q operator), could be out of its design performance as the sampling frequency is increasing. On the other hand, when the discrete system is implemented on hardware or on computer simulation, the ideal design performance could also be changed because of the quantization error effects on the coefficients and states. Therefore, in this paper, a δ operator is adopted as an alternate discretizing method for the reasons that its discrete mathematical model converges to the continuous counterpart as the sampling frequency is increasing to infinite and it could be more accuracy in numerical calculation. Together with δ operator and mathematical model of quantization error, t he main purposes in this paper are to analyze the quantization effects on digital system and discrete Kalman filter.
