聖誕紅‘Peter Star’盆花,在10℃、15℃及25℃下,進行3天及5天包裝處理試驗,結果顯示聖誕紅對溫度相當敏感,且依部位而有不同的敏感性,對苞片而言,以10℃及15℃溫度貯藏者,可以使苞片呈現較亮麗的色澤,且以10℃最佳,而25℃貯藏者則會始未成熟苞片褪色轉白,對大戟花序而言,10℃貯藏者可以使大戟花序的掉落率降到最低,15℃次之,以25℃貯藏者會導致較嚴重的脫落率,當貯藏時間由3天增加至5天時,會使品質劣變的情形更嚴重。而貯藏後導致脫落可能與碳水化合物的消耗及乙烯生合成有關。

Packaging and handling experiment of potted poinsettia cv. Peter Star was stored at 10℃, 15℃ and 25℃. Results showed that poinsettia is very sensitive to tempeture with different position. In bract, the color was bright at 10℃ and 15℃ and was best at 10℃. However, it turned white as the storage duration extended from three to five days and the effect of temperature on bract was more significantly. In cyathia, abscission rate was lowest at 10℃, and was next low at 15℃. Serious cyathia abscission occurred at 25℃. As storage period increased from three to five days, abscission rate of cyathia increased. Storage period resulted in cyathia abscised and had relationship with carbohtdrate consumption. High temperature consumed carbohydrate rapidly, therefore, resulted in abscission of cyathia. In the lower leaves, abscission rate was lowest at 15℃.
