Performance of ‘Known-You 301' tomato plants on two rootstocks(Solanum melongena L. cv. ‘EG203' and ‘VF') was evaluated in a close hydroponic system under combined Ca2+ stress. Before grafting, the rootstock of ‘VF' eggplant had a better ability to absorb Ca2+ when cultivated both in normal condition (5000 μM Ca2+) and in stress condition (143μM Ca2+) than ‘EG203' eggplant, but there are not significantly different in Ca2+ transportation form root to shoots between ‘VF' and ‘EG203'. As hydroponic system, better ability and growth rate of ‘VF' than ‘EG203' in soil-pot system. However, according to dry and fresh weight, growth of ‘Known-You 301' on ‘VF' was considerable better than on ‘EG203' at 143 μM Ca2+, but the Ca2+ content in shoot of grafted ‘Known-You 301' on ‘EG203' was higher than on ‘VF' under Ca2+ stress. The calcium content of fruit of grafted ‘Known-You 301' on ‘VF' was higher than on ‘EG203'. Our study demonstrated that eggplant rootstock can affect the absorption of Ca2+, but can't affect the transportation of Ca2+ from root to shoot.
