dc.description.abstractThis paper proposes a decentralized algorithm fororganizing an ad hoc sensor network into clusters with directionalantennas. The proposed autonomous clustering scheme aims toreduce the sensing redundancy and maintain sufficient sensingcoverage and network connectivity in sensor networks. Withdirectional antennas, random waiting timers, and local criterions,cluster performance may be substantially improved and sensingredundancy can be drastically suppressed. The simulation resultsshow that the proposed scheme achieves connected coverage andprovides efficient network topology management.en_US
