隨著動保意識的提升,傳統巴達利籠飼漸不被接受,用平飼及替代式飼養系統飼養蛋雞日漸普遍。2014年行政院農業委員會頒布雞蛋友善生產系統指南與定義,規定平飼及放牧系統須放置棲架並給予每隻雞15cm以上的棲架空間。本調查之目的旨在研究平飼系統蛋雞日夜間之棲息行為以了解母雞對棲架之需求性及夜間所需棲息空間。觀察之雞舍中間為巢箱,兩面靠牆各放置兩座A型棲架,每座棲架分為上中下三層。調查結果顯示在日間06:00至18:00七個時間點之觀察,以早上08:00及下午14:00過後有較多的母雞(11%)會使用棲架,若開放使用戶外空間,雞隻於上午10:00至下午16:00使用棲架的頻率會顯著較低(P < 0.01)。在夜間棲息方面,雖然提供了足夠的棲息空間(每隻雞15cm),但是僅有43%的雞隻會使用棲架,雞隻會在熄燈前就開始選擇棲息位置,並於熄燈後10分鐘趨於穩定。母雞夜間使用中上層棲架(81%)顯著多於下層棲架(P < 0.01)。夜間休息採取站姿的雞隻比例會從熄燈後開始慢慢減少,並在午夜過後又開始逐漸增加。由於上層棲架的雞隻數目多而擁擠,使得採取站姿休息的比例也高於其他兩層棲架,尤其以中層棲架的母雞較少採取站姿休息。使用走道側棲架的雞隻顯著較多會面對內側(P < 0.01),而使用上層及靠牆側棲架的雞隻則顯著較多會面對外側(P < 0.01)。綜合上述,棲架的擺放位置與設計會影響到棲架的使用程度,提供一個舒適與安全的棲架能提升雞隻使用的意願。
