There is a growing awareness that the success of many firms does not only rely on the tangible assets, but also on technological innovation which has grown increasingly important for firms in every industry. Firms must develop and increase their market values by focusing on the use of the patent indicators to advance their patent portfolios in the market. The objective of this research is to examine the influence of (1) Patent Counts, (2) No. of Assignee, (3) No. of Assignee Country, (4) No. of Inventor, (5) No. of Patent Reference, (6) No. of Patent Citation Received, (7) No. of Claim, (8) No. of IPC, (9) No. of UPC, (10) No. of Non-Patent Reference, (11) No. of Foreign Reference upon the firms' market value of the top market value firms. The market value data of this research are obtained from the COMPUSTAT database. In addition, the patent data are downloaded from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The panel data created in this research contains patient data and market value spanning the period from 2001 to 2010. A panel data model is used to examine the relationship between patent value and market value. Furthermore, this research finds out that 'No. of Patent Reference', 'No. of Claim', 'No. of Non-Patent Reference' and 'No. Of Foreign Reference', are significantly positively correlated with firms' market value.
