The aim of this study is to examine the influences of environmental knowledge, environmental attitude and habitual behavior on environmental behavior. Stratified sampling following the age and gender distributions of the population in three metropolitan areas in Taiwan was applied in conducting the survey. Total valid sample were 481. Structural Equation Model (SEM) and probit model are utilized to estimate the influence of each factor. The results demonstrate that environmental knowledge and habitual behavior have positive influences on environmental behavior. Environmental attitude has mediation effect between environmental knowledge and environmental behavior. The general public has a strong tendency toward recycling but possesses a relatively slight tendency toward materialization and consumerism. The findings provide implications that information disseminated to encourage the general public to take actions and to be environmentally friendly cannot be overemphasized. Especially, waste avoidance and conservation in consumption need to be strengthened in attitudes to reduce the impact of materialization to the environment. People may be aware of seriousness in environmental issues, but only when they have learned the importance in changing their habitual behaviors and how these changes can help with environmental sustainability, the value of being environmentally friendly is acknowledged and pro-environmental behavior is formed into a lifestyle.

全球暖化、森林砍伐、空氣汙染以及水污染等環境問題日益嚴重下,使得近年來環境保護相關議題與研究也普遍受到重視與探討。而根據過去文獻以及IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) 調查更顯示出,這些問題其實與人們的行為息息相關,即指改變相關的環境行為是可以影響甚至減少環境問題。至於人們針對此議題的看法則根據環保署於2013年的調查顯示,台灣有八成以上的民眾對於環境保護持正面之態度,然而民眾的消費及生活習慣卻仍有很大的成長空間,也因此本研究想瞭解與探討有哪些因素會影響民眾採取環境行為,以及環境知識、環境態度與習慣行為如何影響環境行為。
