近幾年來,教育界有關實務社群的探討愈來愈多,認為可以增進教師彼此之間的互動與創新。專業發展學校的關係是開創及貢獻全國專業發展學校協會的任務和視野,其主旨在創新與維持中小學與高等教育的合作關係,也著重塑造教育者的領導和事業。這些學校致力於教育社區的所有成員都能夠獲得及分享知識,這些學校也仰賴研究實習者的合作,如果這些專業發展學校要達成目標,在實行上,學生與教師之間的概念和結構障礙必須說明與討論。

The discussions of communities of practice applying to schools have increased noticeably in recent years. Professional Development School relationships for their ongoing contributions to the mission and vision of the National Association for Professional Development Schools in creating and sustaining genuine collaborative partnerships between P-12 and higher education that shapes educator leadership and practice. These schools are committed to the acquisition and sharing of knowledge among all members of the educational community and depend on research-practitioner collaboration. Conceptual and structural obstacles to student teacher learning in practicums that must be addressed if the professional development school is to achieve its goals are discussed.
