The soil quality is about environmental quality that will affect the sustainable development of agriculture. Long-term effects of different management of fertilizing on soil quality are different. In this study, evaluation of soil quality for long-term application of seven treatments [no fertilizer (N.F.), chemical fertilizer (C.F.), swine manure compost (S.C.), swine manure compost + 1/3 N (S.C. + 1/3 N), swine manure compost + 2/3 N (S.C. + 2/3 N), green manure + 1/3N (G.M. + 1/3 N) and peat + 1/3] under rice-corn rotation system. This experimental site was located at the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute Council of Agricultural, Executive Yuan, No. 35. It was been conducted since 1995 and had been evaluated for soil quality in 2007. In this study, the soil quality assessment has carried out again in 2015, and the harvested soils were after harvesting of rice and maize respectively. It will be measured 19 soil properties and observed the change of soil properties during 20 years, and soil index analysis in three ways (SQIMDS1, SQIMDS2, and SQItotal) to assess the effect of each treatment on soil quality. The results show that the effect of application of organic fertilizers on soil properties was better than that of chemical fertilizers, but the influence degree was depending on the composition of organic matter. The minimum data group can effectively assess the soil quality indicators (SQI). The soil quality of swine manure composting and peat treatment over 20 years is better than that of green manure or chemical fertilizer.
